It was a historically-based 4X game until Beyond Earth was released, but except for the theme, the gameplay mechanics haven't changed in the meantime. In case you are not familiar with the franchise by now, the Civilization series has been around for many years.
As such, this is much more than a regular DLC, but the price is equally high as well. The pack brings a lot of new content to the table, including four new factions, the possibility to colonize the ocean, hybrid units, and two new biomes. Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth - Rising Tide is an expansion pack that poses as a DLC for the rather disappointing original game.
